UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: What is the difference between the power as specified in VA and the power specified as Watts?
A: The VA specifies the apparent power. Apparent power includes the reactive and distorsion power component which is not actually abosorbed by the load. The power specified in Watts is the real power absorbed by the load. The ratio between the apparent power and the real power is called the power factor (PF).
